The Arab American National Museum (AANM) is seeking artistic presentations and proposals for panels and papers for its DIWAN: A Forum for the Arts being held for the first time in New York City at the Graduate Center for the City University of New York (365 Fifth Avenue) March 25-26, 2011.
AANM is pleased to partner with Alwan for the Arts as well the Middle East and Middle East American Center (MEMEAC) at the Graduate Center, CUNY, to build an exciting program for its fourth DIWAN conference, in its ongoing commitment to convene and generate a national dialogue among artists and academicians about the state of Arab American art.
All artistic mediums will be considered for inclusion.

Fan Communities and the Fantastic, International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts, USA, 16 - 20 March 2011
Participants are being sought for paper sessions on Fan Communities and the Fantastic for the 32nd annual International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts.
The focus of ICFA 32 is on the humorous and ridiculous in the fantastic, and while papers relating to this theme are welcome, proposals on any topics related to this call will be equally welcome. The conference will be held in Orlando, Florida, from March 16 - 20, 2011 at the Orlando Marriott Airport Hotel. Guests of Honor are Connie Willis and Terry Bisson, and the Guest Scholar is Andrea Hairston. Cours de journalisme
L'Institut pour la Promotion du Journalisme, l’Institute for the Advancement of Journalism (IAJ), propose un nouveau cours à Johannesburg, en Afrique du Sud. Quelque soit la structure concernée, il est important pour toute organisation de connaître la manière dont elle est décrite dans les médias, autrement dit quel est son profil médiatique. Cet atelier de 5 jours est destiné aux communicateurs institutionnels et gouvernementaux et aux personnels des médias. Il explique comment les profils médiatiques sont documentés et établis et ce que ces profils peuvent révéler. Aucune expérience préalable en matière de recherche sur les médias ou sur l’échantillonnage n’est nécessaire. L'objectif est de familiariser les participants avec des concepts et des méthodes clés. La composante pratique de la formation concernera l’échantillonnage et le codage des médias en utilisant des techniques de base. Le profilage des médias peut être très complexe et statistique. Ce cours ne vise pas à conférer des compétences de haut niveau mais cherche à fournir une base pour la compréhension et l'utilisation du profilage des médias pour la gestion de la réputation de l'entreprise.

Appel à films Suggestion de film pour explorer des questions transfrontalières en Afrique de l'Ouest
Talking Borders « Les frontières qui parlent » est un nouveau docudrame de Conciliation Ressources (CR) qui vise à agir comme catalyseur pour le changement social en donnant une voix à ceux qui vivent dans les communautés frontalières de Sierra Leone, du Libéria et de Guinée. Tiré de 300 entretiens, le film raconte l'histoire d'une jeune marchande, d’un policier et d’un ex-combattant dont les vies sont gâchées par la corruption et le harcèlement. Le lancement du film s’est déroulé plus tôt cette année à Freetown. Le film a depuis été projeté à Bo et Bumpe, au sein des communautés qui font face au quotidien aux problématiques soulevées par ce film.

Sont offerts à des étudiants et étudiants étrangers des bourses d’études universitaires. L’objectif des bourses d’études sont de permettre aux étudiants de parfaire leurs connaissances en Suisse et/ou d’y faire des travaux de recherche dans des domaines auxquels les universités suisses accordent une attention particulière.
Les bourses sont en principe offertes aux gouvernements des pays étrangers. Les dossiers de candidature font l'objet d'une sélection préliminaire par les autorités nationales compétentes et la représentation diplomatique suisse. La représentation diplomatique suisse transmet les candidatures sélectionnées à la Commission fédérale des bourses pour étudiants étrangers (CFBE) qui effectue la sélection définitive. C'est ensuite le Département fédéral de l'Intérieur (DFI) qui octroie les bourses sur la base des propositions de la CFBE.
Condition(s) de participation
- Les candidat(e)s ne doivent pas avoir plus de 35 ans.
- Les candidat(e)s doivent déjà être titulaires d’un diplôme universitaire.
- Les candidat(e)s doivent avoir des connaissances suffisantes de la langue d'enseignement, française, allemande ou italienne pour leur permettre de bénéficier pleinement de leurs études en Suisse.

After the deadline a pre-jury selects participants who will perform their productions between march 17th and 20th 2010 in front of the jury and the audience. The jury awards altogether six prizes, three for each of the two categories "choreography" and "dance". The 1st prizes are awarded with € 3.500,- each, 2nd prizes with € 2.500,- each and the 3rd prizes with € 1.500,- each.

As the Media Arts Director you will:
Serve as the Agency's nationally recognized expert and authority for the field of Media Arts, including independent media arts centers, media artists' collaborative, emerging and interactive platforms, as well as a variety of arts service organizations.
Provide national leadership and direction concerning Agency assessments of funding and other assistance for the rapidly changing Media Arts field. Study and analyze conditions and trends as they relate to and affect the Media Arts field.
Work with Senior Agency Officials and Program staff, constituents, private and public funders, and top-level officials of other organizations to formulate, design and recommend appropriate grant programs, leadership initiatives and partnerships that advance the Media Arts field including new forms of art creation using mobile, web-based and interactive platforms and tools.
Review proposals from the Media Arts field, manage the panel review process for applications, propose funding amounts, and present grant recommendations for consideration by the Senior Agency Officials, and the National Council on the Arts.
Select experts in the Media Arts field to serve as pre-screening and panel reviewers and chairs or co-chairs panel meetings. Organize groups of reviewers and consultants to assist in evaluating proposals and planning future programs and initiatives.
